Our team
At Coop in vivo, each member brings their experience and vision to build concrete projects that support scientific training and healthcare autonomy. Our team brings together researchers, trainers, and professionals committed to a shared ideal: equitable access to science and healthcare.
Nathalie Bessodes — President of the non-profit organization. PhD in molecular and cellular biology. Nathalie initially pursued a career in academic research in France and then Belgium, with a particular interest in the genetics of embryonic development. For ten years, she acquired extensive experience in molecular biology (qPCR, cloning, RNA synthesis, in situ hybridization), immunological techniques (Western blot, co-immunoprecipitation, immunohistochemistry), and histology. In 2017, she joined the Culture in vivo team, where she designs and leads training programs in biotechnology, particularly in molecular biology, in collaboration with pharmaceutical companies such as GSK. Aware of the inequalities in access to scientific practice in developing countries, she founded Coop in vivo, Culture in vivo's sister organization, to promote more equitable access to practical training in biotechnology.
Juan-Fernando Castro-Castañeda — Vice-président A biologist by training, Juan earned a bachelor's degree in biological sciences from the University of Antioquia (Colombia) and a master's degree in cellular and molecular biology from the University of Malaga (Spain). He then gained initial experience in forensic genetics before specializing in molecular biology and cell culture. In 2024, he joined Culture in vivo as a scientific trainer, where he designs and leads specialized training in cell culture. At Culture in vivo, he brings valuable insight into local realities in Latin America and actively contributes to establishing university partnerships. As vice president, he plays a key role in developing international projects and adapting training programs to the needs of partner students and faculty.
Fabien Baldacci — Treasurer. With a PhD in molecular and cellular biology, Fabien pursued a career in academic research in France and then Belgium, with a particular interest in plant-microorganism interactions at the molecular level. He then continued his career in the biopharmaceutical industry, first as an R&D scientist, then as manager of the RNA and Viral Vector analytical team at Exothera. Fabien brings to Coop in vivo his experience in non-profit management (former president of the non-profit organization Art de la recherche) as well as valuable knowledge of the biopharmaceutical industry. His profile bridges the academic, industrial, and non-profit worlds, serving the sustainable development of the non-profit's projects.
